Let’s Play Catch-Up.

2016-02-11 19.09.56-1February has been one mixed-up month, that can be summed up in one word: surgery.

I spent the first eleven days anticipating and preparing for surgery on my right knee, and since then I’ve been recovering from said surgery.  And although I’m frustrated and shack-wacky, the truth is, I’m on the mend and doing well, for the most part.  I’m just not very patient. 🙂

Coming Up Next:

In other news, I am going to a writing retreat from Thursday to Sunday this coming week, and I am beyond excited.  It has been so long since I have spent that much time with a group of creative word-workers.  The project I will be working on is a short story collection and, although I am rusty, it is going well.  This feels so good.  It feels like me again.

Time for Show and Tell:

Writing HatWhen I decided that 2016 would be the year that I would really focus on my writing, a good friend of mine was very pleased.  (He has been my biggest cheerleader and support for my writing for more than twenty-five years.)

In honour of him — and as a reminder — I had a “special writing hat” made, embroidered with his calm, steady advice to me: “Concentrate.  Persevere.”  Wearing the hat is like having him pat me on the shoulder, saying “You’ve got this.”

I am beginning to think that maybe I do. 🙂

I know you have this all under control. You just need to do what you need to do and get back on track when you can. You’ve done so well with the “down-sizing” that I’m sure you will return with renewed enthusiasm and go with gusto. Carry on my friend…the world is your oyster and you have the shucking knife!
